The current cliché

The current cliché "At the end of the day" continues to proliferate like wasps.  But coming up close behind it is the ubiquitous "wake-up call".  Just as every record is a track record, so every call is designed to wake someone up: but its constant use, irrespective of context or aptness, seems far likelier to put us all to sleep.
